Dear Fellow Cooperator,
I have a B.A. from Yale and an Accounting Certificate from the Wharton School of Business. I have worked in software development, distribution, communications, and information security. In prior years I had a major role in guiding management to install a fiber optic network in empty conduits left to us by a cable television provider. This network remains in use today connecting security cameras, intercom, security voice communication, door entry, elevator control, and irrigation systems. I helmed the redesign of our laundry rooms to add additional machines. The durable and comfortable seating I selected remains in use today. This saved us the cost of buying new seating as part of the recent renovation. Going forward I would like to focus on these initiatives.
Reduce Waiting Time for Parking Spaces
Some people “warehouse” parking spaces they do not need because they know it would take decades to get another one. I support allowing people to “freeze” their parking space, releasing the space for someone else, while putting them in a special list that has priority for any new spaces. We do this on a one-time basis for a limited time to aid people buying a new car or replacing one destroyed or stolen. We should allow this on demand for an unlimited time. Some people may never ask for their space again due to age or lack of need. This would free up spaces reducing waiting time by years.
Submit Service Requests Online
The ability to submit service requests online is long overdue. I will press for its availability within the next 12 months.
Make Package Delivery More Reliable
Sometimes packages make their way to our doors. Sometimes they do not. Many delivery people do not read English. A Security person agreed when I suggested the sign directing delivery upstairs should be in other languages. He said that was “a Management decision.” As a member of the Board I would request it.
Address the e-Bike/e-Scooter Ban
For several years Management has made an outright ban on eBikes and eScooters. Cooperators need them for transportation. Our Board needs to present a solution. As a member of the Board I would make this a top priority.
Publish Operations Committee Minutes
The original Community Room 8A renovation plan included sliding doors opening to an outside garden. The final plan omitted this feature. Board members in the Operations Committee vetoed it. Because the Board does not publish minutes of Operations, we will never know which Board members blocked it. We should. The Board should publish Operations Committee minutes.
Optimize 8A Renovation for Video Capture
The Board will spend nearly a million dollars on a renovation of Community Room 8A. As the only candidate or Board member with professional videography experience I would assure the renovation has the lighting and audio connections for optimal recording and streaming of video to share events with busy or homebound cooperators.
Site a Free DREAM-SHSI SHSAT Class
We may be able to have the City hold a free SHSAT class in a Penn South community room leveraging our excellent political connections. My role would be to spearhead support from the Board. The SHSAT determines admission to New York City’s specialized high schools such as Stuyvesnant.
